The perfect mix of fun and learning!
Camping trips can be fantastic fun, a magical journey that can be tailored to suit you and your family! (if you cannot travel you can always camp out in your own backyard) Camp outs are filled with experiences for the whole family. Opportunities are endless and the education gained can be what you cannot get in a classroom!
What to do first? Run, jump, swim, walk on rocks, eat, cook, try something new?? There are so many options, my favourite thing is that all decisions are made with my children and we do everything together (ok sometimes I just watch)!
The beauty of a camping adventure means TIME, time that you may not normally have. Time to explore, create, think, dream, discuss or problem solve.
These are my top ten loves of camping:
Exploring nature, local villages, bushland, lakes, beaches, rocks, mountains, stairs that lead to anywhere…
Write your name in the sand, learn your letters
Count shells, sort shells, take them home
Meet new Friends
Make Memories of magical moments
Some more activities that are inclusive of gross and fine motor skills are balancing on big logs or camping ground fences, building spectacular sandcastles, leaves/flower collage, catch your dinner (fishing), collecting sticks, wood to build a fire, safety, nature and many many more!
This great outdoor activity allows us to not only to have conversations on nutrition, physical activity, creativity, fine and gross motor skills. It allows us to participate and engage with children allowing critical thinking and children’s questions to be answered and no real time frame, creating curiosity and learning. It also allows for a connection to our natural environment.
Camping is not for everyone, Glamping is awesome too! Whilst I do often camp in a camper trailer, I love a cabin 🙂 All of these activities can be done in your backyard or on a special day out!
